Year 7 and 8
Year 7
The Year 7s have shown some fantastic resilience and endeavour throughout the second half of Term 3. A number of sports teams have had great success playing against other schools – Girls’ Netball competed in the State Championships and competed fiercely against a number of elite school teams. We also had a range of students compete in District Athletics in a number of events, representing the school proudly.
Year 7s have been able to nominate one another when they notice their peers embodying our school values throughout their school lives. It’s been wonderful to see students noticing each other’s positive behaviours and attitudes and recognising one another publicly. One winner is chosen each week from the pool of students nominated, and our prize box has been very popular.
With our final term of Year 7 coming up, it’s important that we keep up positive work habits to prepare our students well for entering Year 8. Students are being reminded to avoid leaving the classroom during brunch times and to bring all materials to all classes.
Our Year 7 Market Day is scheduled for Week 1 of Term 4, and students will have the opportunity to run their own market stalls. All proceeds from the stalls are going towards CareWorks (a local Sunbury food bank). The Market Day is an integral part of our Business and Economics and Financial Maths units. This is always one of the most positive days in the Year 7 calendar, and students are being encouraged to continue their planning for their stalls over the holidays.
Year 8
Term 3 has been another busy and rewarding term for our Year 8 cohort. One of the highlights has been seeing many students consistently demonstrate our College values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Endeavour in the classroom, during activities and across the wider school grounds. These values are an important part of the young people we are developing, and it has been fantastic to see students supporting one another and taking pride in their school.
Our Work Habit Rating Competition was a particular success. Students and classes embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and vigour, with a strong focus on improving work habits, preparedness, engagement and effort. The competition will finish with our Dodgeball Competition, giving students the opportunity to celebrate their achievements, work together and finish the challenge on a positive note.
We would also like to congratulate the many students who represented the College in Interschool Sport throughout Term 3. A special congratulations to our Junior Girls’ Netball team, who made it all the way to the State Finals – an outstanding achievement and a wonderful example of teamwork, commitment and perseverance.
Congratulations also to those students who successfully participated in the Duke of Edinburgh 2027 application and interview process.
As we look towards our final term, we encourage all students to continue focusing on regular attendance, having the correct equipment and showing respect to all members of our school community. The final term is an important opportunity to finish Year 8 strongly and continue building positive habits.
