Sport

It’s been a big term for school sports, with a great number of teams heading out to represent the school at both Division and Western Metro competitions. We had a number of basketball teams compete this term, including our Intermediate boys’ and girls’ teams, Year 8 boys’ and girls’ teams, and our Year 7 boys’ and girls’ teams. The Year 8 boys played some impressive basketball and were able to progress through to Western Metro later in Term 4. Our Year 7 girls put on a dominant display at the Division competition, winning all their games and progressing through to Western Metro in Term 4.

Our Junior girls’ netball team headed to the Netball Victoria State Championships and played some impressive netball. They finished fifth in their pool, an incredible effort.

We had the first round of Athletics, with 42 students heading out to compete in their events. We had a strong showing, with 17 students heading to Western Metro early in Term 4 to represent Sunbury. A special congratulations to Michael Brown, Tyler Stott, Luc Ozanne and Charlotte Nichols, who set new Division records at the event.

In August, Zachary Gray and Archer Morrison competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and were crowned Australian champions for their age groups. Zachary Gray is the Australian champion for Under 13s, and Archer Morrison is the Australian champion for Under 14s. This is an incredible achievement. Well done to you both.
