Valedictory Assembly

We were proud to welcome alumnus Josh Attwood (Class of 2013) back to Ballarat High School as guest speaker at our Year 12 Valedictory Assembly recently. Josh is an experienced sports administrator, currently working at AFL House in the Football Performance Department.
Josh addressed the graduates of 2025, their families and our staff with warmth, reflecting on his own journey since leaving BHS. He spoke with pride about his time here and the opportunities that followed, reminding students that life is about the journey, not the destination.
Josh shared how every job he’s held since finishing university didn’t even exist when he was at school. He reflected on his love of sport, recalling the five-year effort it took for his relay team to win the 4x100m State Championship, not for the title, but for the lessons learned along the way.
Josh closed with a quote from Winnie the Pooh: “Life is a journey to be experienced, not a problem to be solved.”
We thank Josh for giving back to his school community and inspiring the next generation. Congratulations to the Class of 2025, and we welcome you to our alumni community.
