triple j’s Unearthed High is OPEN NOW!
HELP HIGH SCHOOL-AGED COMMUNITY MEMBERS GET THEIR MUSIC PLAYED ON TRIPLE J
What is Unearthed high? The search is on! triple j is looking all around the country for Australia’s best high school music act and if young people in your school or community are making great music, we want to hear it! The best entries will be played nationwide across triple j and triple j Unearthed.
What is the prize? We’ll help the winning student take their career to the next level. We’ll set up the winning artist with a songwriting session with one of four high-profile Australian artist including The Jungle Giants, Peach PRC, Nerve or What So Not. Plus, the winner will be connected with experts in the industry for top tier career guidance.
How to enter: High school-aged artists need to upload a song to the Unearthed high competition page, tell us which school they attend and tick the Unearthed High box. Before entering, note these guidelines below:
- Songs must be original creations – no covers
- The competition is for high school aged students
- At least 50% of a group’s members must still be in high school
- Entries can be from bands, solo acts, producers, or MCs
- Any genre of music is allowed – dance, electronic, hip hop, indie, metal, pop, punk, roots, etc.
For entrants to have the best chance of getting played on triple j and triple j Unearthed, they should upload their songs early in the competition. You can find a bunch of tips on how students can make the best of the competition on the triple j Unearthed website: https://www.abc.net.au/triplejunearthed/.
Indigenous Initiative: We are also shining a spotlight on the best Indigenous high school act in the country. As well as being eligible for the prize mentioned above, the strongest Unearthed High entry from an Indigenous artist/band will win the opportunity to have their next single mixed by internationally acclaimed engineer Konstantin Kersting and a mentorship with triple j’s Blak Out host, Nooky. The winner’s song will also be sent to community radio stations around Australia.
