Celebrating Success: Bohdi Minton Graduates from Operation Newstart
We’re pleased to share that Year 10 student Bohdi Minton recently graduated from the Operation Newstart program at a ceremony held at Kensington Town Hall last Friday.
Bohdi participated in the intensive six-week leadership and engagement program during Term 2 and embraced every opportunity it offered. The feedback from his mentors and peers was glowing — in their words, "he couldn't have got any more out of the experience." It’s a fantastic reflection of his commitment and growth over the course of the program.
It was also wonderful to see family support at the graduation, and Bohdi’s dad and partner were very appreciative that representatives from the school were there to celebrate this important milestone. A big thank you to Mr Levy and Mr Frampton for attending on the school’s behalf.
This is a great outcome for all involved, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Paul Stafford and Daniel Beeson from Operation Newstart to support other disengaged Year 10 students in the future.
Hobson’s Bay Millenium Time Capsule
In December 2024 Hobsons Bay Council successfully opened the Millennium Time Capsule and removed 7 large, sealed PVC pipes which contain 34 mini-capsules with messages from each Hobsons Bay school. Capsules and messages from students in 1999 were on display at Central Square shopping centre for Australia Day 2025.
Mini capsules from the Hobsons Bay Millennium Time Capsule were then presented to Hobsons Bay school representatives by the Mayor, Cr. Daria Kellander, in May 2025.
The time capsule was present to students at an assembly earlier in the term, and SRC students have recently open the capsule and create a display in the Paisley Library.

On June 24th the Year 11 and 12 VCE Japanese students were immersed in a traditional Japanese activity, Karaoke!
Students showcased their talents, singing in both Japanese and English. It was well deserved celebration to mark a term of dedication and effort in Japanese classes.
Term 3 Work Experience
Our Year 10 students will be heading out for Work Experience in Week 2 of Term 3, from July 28 to August 1, 2025.
There’s a real buzz of excitement as students prepare for their placements. Looking through the list of employers, it’s clear that the opportunities are diverse and wide-ranging, with placements spread across many parts of the city.
We hope this experience inspires students to start thinking practically about their futures, and encourages them to set meaningful goals and work towards them in their studies.
We wish all students the best for a rewarding and insightful week ahead!
