Assistant Principal's report

Dropping your child to school and picking them up can be a busy time not only with lots of people and cars moving around but also so much going on in our minds. Whether you are thinking about the to-do list of your day, running late for an appointment, heading out to meet a friend, or moving onto your work day - our brains are full - and for our children there is lots on their minds as well, they are not always as vigilant as they could be.
We implore our community to take extra care on the roads and when parking. Unfortunately we have had a few 'near misses' reported lately of children and adults crossing the road in unmarked areas, cars doing u-turns in the road and families parking in no parking zones. Even a near miss causes upset and stress to others, not to mention the danger. Please remember that those extra few minutes taken to park and walk safely are always worth it to avoid a tragedy.
Don't forget the ever-growing parent library, available for borrowing in my office. You can also check out the 'Support for parents and families' page in the newsletter for information about free and low cost parenting supports available in the community.
Interviews will be hosted online via Webex in the last 2 weeks of this term. These are a fantastic opportunity to connect with the class teacher about your child's learning, social development and wellbeing. I encourage every family to take opportunity to book an interview time, the booking portal will be open at the end of this week please keep an eye on Compass for details. Children are welcome to attend the session with their parent if you wish.
