What's On In Foundation

Foundation Visit to Sea LIFE Aquarium

Last week, our Foundation students had a fantastic day exploring the underwater world at Sea LIFE Aquarium! We travelled by bus into the city, with many students very excited about the journey and the opportunity to visit somewhere new. Once we arrived, we made our way through the aquarium, discovering all kinds of fascinating sea creatures and habitats.

The students were particularly excited to see the sharks, rays, jellyfish, turtles and colourful fish up close. During our guided tour, they learnt many fascinating facts about the animals, including how they live, what they eat and the environments they call home. The students loved observing the different habitats, spotting different animals and sharing what they noticed with their friends. They were curious throughout the tour, asking thoughtful questions and making connections to what they already knew.

Our excursion connected beautifully with our Integrated topic of Special Places in our Community, giving students the opportunity to visit and explore a special place within Melbourne. It also linked closely with our Literacy learning, as we are now using our experiences from the excursion to begin writing information reports about an animal we saw at the aquarium. The students have already been sharing lots of interesting facts they remember from the day and are excited to turn their learning into their own information reports. It was a wonderful day of hands-on learning, curiosity and fun!
