Principal's Report
It has been a great start to Spring at Whitehorse Primary School with the students having some great opportunities to be outdoors with some nicer weather and engaging in a wide range of activities.
Specialist Expo
Once again a thank you to the many families who attended our Specialist Expo last week. The outstanding engagement from our community helped make the afternoon a wonderful celebration of the breadth and quality of learning within our specialist programs. The Carnival Theme was certainly reflected through the games created from STEM, Collaborative Art Work, Mask Painting and Sports games throughout the afternoon.
It was fantastic to see our students proudly sharing their learning and families participating so enthusiastically in the activities. A special thank you to our specialist teachers, staff and parent volunteers for the time and effort they contributed to this highly successful event.
Student Leadership
Our School Captains once again represented Whitehorse Primary School with pride at the Whitehorse City Council Voicemasters Leadership Forum today. They demonstrated confidence, respect and enthusiasm while connecting with student leaders from other local schools.
We are very proud of the way our captains continue to embrace opportunities to develop their leadership skills and represent our school community. We also thank our Grade 3/4 students who have stepped up the last few weeks to take on the role of leading assembly while our Grade 5/6 leaders were at Interschool Sport.
Father’s Day Stall
Thank you to the Whitehorse Family Network and our wonderful parent volunteers for organising and supporting this year’s Father’s Day Stall. Their generosity and hard work ensured our students had the opportunity to select a special gift for the fathers and other important people in their lives. The event was also well supported by our Kitchen program with students able to purchase cookies, which I heard were so delicious they didn’t all make their way home!
Events such as these are made possible through the support of our families, and we are very grateful to everyone who contributed.
Planning for 2027 and Beyond
School tours for 2027 and 2028 continue to run regularly, with strong interest from families moving into our local area and those considering a transition from the independent school sector. It is pleasing to see so many families interested in becoming part of the Whitehorse Primary School community.
To assist us with accurate workforce and class planning, we ask families who know their child will be leaving Whitehorse Primary School at the end of 2026 to please notify the school office as soon as possible. This does not include our graduating Grade 6 students.
Staffing Update
We wish Ms Kelly all the very best as she prepares to commence family leave at the beginning of Term 4. We thank her for her contribution to our students and school community and look forward to sharing in this exciting new chapter with her.
We are also pleased to welcome back Mrs Zelazny and Ms Chin. From Term 4, Mrs Zelazny will take on a classroom teaching role in 1/2C , while Ms Chin will lead our STEM program.
Gym Rectification Works
Rectification works in our gym have now commenced and are expected to take approximately eight weeks. During this period, all school-based programs, including Physical Education and OSHC, will continue to operate using alternative spaces.
We appreciate the flexibility and understanding of our students, staff and families while these important works are completed.
Parent Survey Reminder
Families are reminded that there is still time to complete the online parent survey. Your feedback provides valuable insight into the experiences of our families and helps inform our planning and ongoing school improvement. We encourage all families who have received an invitation to take a few minutes to share their views.
Every Day Counts
Regular attendance is essential to student learning, wellbeing and connection. Every day at school provides important opportunities for students to build their knowledge, strengthen friendships and maintain consistent learning routines.
We ask families to continue prioritising attendance and punctuality wherever possible. If your child is absent, please ensure the absence is recorded through Compass and contact the school if you require any support.
