Year 6 

Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families, 

It has been another wonderful week in Year 6! The students have enjoyed their final week of swimming lessons, and it was fantastic to see their effort and participation in the pool. Thank you to all students for the positive way they represented the school throughout the program.

This week the students also attended the Learning God’s Ways, Living God’s Love theme day. Their enthusiasm and participation were definitely noticed, and they represented our Year 6 community beautifully. Please remember to keep an eye on emails and make sure important dates are added to your calendars.

English

Students were introduced to a new novel, The Silver Donkey by Sonya Hartnett. The story follows a mysterious soldier who is hiding in the woods after returning from war. Two sisters discover him and promise to keep his secret while helping him find his way home. Through this novel, students will explore themes of kindness, courage, hope, and the impact of war, while developing their comprehension and discussion skills.

Mathematics

In Maths, students have been learning to identify and describe patterns, with a focus on recognising and explaining the additive rule used to create number patterns.

Religion

In Religion, students are learning how different communities organise time into seasons to remember what matters and shape identity. This learning helps students understand how traditions and important events are remembered and celebrated within faith communities.

We look forward to another great week of learning in Year 6!

• Please make sure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name using a black marker to help prevent items from being misplaced.
