Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Term 2 has been a big term for our students undertaking Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), with many demonstrating commitment, initiative and growth in real-world work environments.

A special congratulations to Dillan Petrovski, who has secured his first part-time job at Bunnings Thomastown. After impressing his supervisors with his strong work ethic and initiative during his SWL placement, Dillan was offered ongoing employment. A fantastic example of how SWL can open doors to future pathways, well done Dillan!

We would also like to recognise the efforts of Nikita Gigliotti-Sevas, who received an outstanding SWL Employer Evaluation at the completion of her first SWL. Her hard work and dedication to her role did not go unnoticed by her SWL employer, well done Nikita!

SWL gives students the opportunity to build their employability skills, gain valuable industry experience and explore career pathways while still at school. We look forward to seeing more success stories unfold throughout the year.

Year Level Careers & Pathways Google Classrooms

Our Careers & Pathways Google Classrooms for Years 10, 11 and 12 are now live and regularly updated. These spaces are key hubs for students to access career exploration tools, job opportunities, VET and SWL updates, and important event information.

Year 12 students are especially encouraged to monitor postings for 2026 employment opportunities—many are already being advertised. If you need help with applications, please reach out to the Careers & Pathways Team.

We encourage all students and families to check in regularly to stay connected and informed. Students can access their year-level Google Classroom using their school email login.

Head Start: School-Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships (SBATs)

Congratulations to Noah McConville, who recently secured a School-Based Apprenticeship with Reece, a leading plumbing supplies retailer. We are excited to see what this opportunity brings for Noah in both learning and future career development.

We continue to support students involved in the Head Start program, which allows young people to combine their VCE Vocational Major studies with part-time work and vocational training. School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) provide a valuable pathway for students looking to gain hands-on experience and qualifications in their chosen industry—while still working towards their senior certificate.

We’re proud of the commitment shown by all our Head Start students as they take meaningful steps toward their future careers.

Trade & Tech Fit Expo

This term, a small group of our female students attended the Trade & Tech Fit Career Expo—Victoria’s largest hands-on event promoting careers in trades and technology for young women and gender-diverse students. It was an inspiring day filled with career discovery, skill-building activities, meaningful conversations, and yes—plenty of free merch from enthusiastic industry exhibitors!

It was energising to see our students engaging so confidently with industries traditionally underrepresented by women. From virtual welding to robotics, electrical circuits to heavy machinery, the event opened students’ eyes to a future of work unconstrained by gender stereotypes.

Opportunities like Trade & Tech Fit empower our students to explore, imagine and plan for bold and exciting futures in sectors where their voices, skills and leadership are needed more than ever.

We’re proud of the curiosity and confidence shown by our students on the day—and we can’t wait to see where their pathways take them next.

Melbourne Career Expo – Free Tickets Available

The Melbourne Career Expo is just around the corner, offering students and families a fantastic opportunity to explore future career pathways, training options and emerging industries, all under one roof.

Held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 26–28 July 2025, the event features over 150 exhibitors from across trades, universities, TAFEs, apprenticeships, defence, creative industries and more. Students can attend free seminars, collect resources, and speak directly with employers and training providers.
