Principal's Report

Karen Anderson - Acting Principal

Our eleven week, second term is concluding. During this time our students have been challenged in learning within the VCE VM and in their VET studies. We’ve reached milestones that underline our commitment to our values of respect, responsibility, a positive attitude, commitment and teamwork. I hope that your child speaks with you about their learning and growth this term.

Parent Teacher Conferences are a really important opportunity to speak with staff about your child and the next phase of their learning. Please prioritise this event – looking forward to meeting more of you then…

As a new person to the school, it has been a joy to see young people with a strong connection to their peers, the staff and their school. I see this in smiles in the morning (before 9 am!), in greetings and gestures and care shown to each other when students ask each other how they are. I see similar interactions between students and staff.

If your child is challenged to arrive at school, ready for learning at 9 am, please be in contact with your child’s Homegroup teacher. The school can provide support and strategies, if required. Our Year Level Coordinators and engagement and wellbeing team of Juliet Bennie, Wellbeing Counsellor, and Emily Manti, Mental Health Practitioner, are available so please contact the school. An organised and on time student is a successful one.

I am looking forward to our end of term assembly next week. This marker in time is an opportunity to celebrate the success of student growth. It is hopefully a prompt for students to reflect on the term and plan for next term.

As I write, we are in the Wurundjeri season of Waring (Wombat Season), as described in Woiwurrung traditions. We may not have wombats emerging from their burrows but in the trees and skies above the school are Corellas! It is a pleasure to be at work early after having seen mist along Edgars Creek and see the sun rising in the east…

I wish you and your family all the best for the break and hope you have some time to be outside too – stay warm!

I’ve felt truly welcomed by your children this term, and I’m delighted to be continuing with you for another term. I look forward to seeing your child again when we return on Monday, 21 July.
