Year 2-Newsletter T1 W6

It was lovely meeting with you during 3 way chats and discuss with you, your child and how they have settled into Year 2. We are looking forward to our year ahead with you all.

Numeracy:

The children continue to learn about time. They have been reading o’clock, half past, quarter to, and quarter past times. Children have also been using the terms clockwise and anticlockwise. Children drew clocks with chalk and used these drawings to stand in and move in a clockwise and anticlockwise direction. We have included some photos of their clocks. Reading analogue time and using these terms can be reinforced by practicing at home.

Literacy:

During Literacy, the children have enjoyed listening to the story “Pete the Sheep.” They are learning about persuasive texts and noun groups.

The children will be bringing home a list of tricky words. These words are connected to your child’s current spelling learning. This list will include some new words and revising some words from Year 1. We strongly encourage that your child read these words as well as learn to write these words at home. New lists will be sent home as we reach certain lessons in Literacy. This will be communicated to you via the newsletter.

RRRR’s:

Children played a connections game by holding a pen, with a partner only using one finger each. This lesson challenged the student's skills in partnership, teamwork, and cooperation. Students were able to name skills needed to work with a partner but also to play with others in a friendly way. We have included some photos of our amazing teamwork.

Weekday Mass:

Year 2 will be attending Mass on Friday; 20th March at 11.30am. We would like to invite our family and friends to celebrate Mass with us.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us or pop in and see us before or after school.
