Live Life Review

Dear Parents/Carers
As part of Koonung’s ongoing commitment to whole school improvement, we are undertaking a review of our Year 9 Live Life program this year. The Live Life program is designed to support students’ engagement, wellbeing and sense of civic responsibility at this important stage of schooling.
The goal of the review is not to replace the program but rather refine it so that it continues to meet the needs of today’s students and remains relevant into the future.
We would like to hear your thoughts about the Live Life program via the survey below. Whether you have a child currently in Year 9 or not, your perspective about what matters most for young people at this stage is important in helping us shape the program.

Excursion to Sikh Temple
On 17 June, Year 9 Live Life students had the valuable opportunity to visit a Sikh Temple in Blackburn as part of their learning about diverse cultures and religions. Upon arrival, students respectfully followed cultural practices by removing their shoes, washing their hands, and wearing head coverings before entering the temple. They then engaged in an informative presentation that explored the Sikh faith, including its history, beliefs, and customs.
Following the presentation, students were given a guided tour of the temple, gaining further insight into its significance and daily practices. The visit concluded with a shared vegetarian meal, generously prepared and served by temple volunteers, highlighting the Sikh tradition of community service.
This excursion provided students with a meaningful first-hand cultural experience and a deeper understanding of the values and traditions of the Sikh community.
