One of the absolute joys of my role is attending events which come to life through the energy and creativity of our students.

Over the last week or so, I have witnessed our Year 10 Physical Activity and Sport Studies (PASS) students supporting our K – 2 Swimming Program.  Fresh from completing their Bronze Medallions, these students were so encouraging of our newest swimmers as they gained confidence around the water.

On Trinity Day, we saw Houses running in relay races with teams including runners from Kindy through to Year 12.  It makes me so proud to watch older students caring for the younger students in their House – cheering them on and making sure they have a great time in such a setting.

The Kool Skools project is an annual program supported by AlburyCity that provides young musicians the opportunity to write, record and perform music in a professional studio. Charlie McCormack, Ben Rowe and Duncan Webster, all in Year 8, recorded an original song which was launched at the Retro Lane Café and is now available on Spotify.

Parker Thorneycroft in Year 6 has, once again, hosted the Kids 4 Kids disco which attracted over 400 six- to twelve-year-olds from the area with all proceeds going to Country Hope.  It is just unbelievable to see one young man’s dream realised with (another!) $10,000 raised for this worthy cause.

These moments, varied as they are, all speak to the heart of who we are as a community: young people striving, creating, leading and lifting-up one another.  Whether in the pool, on the track, in the recording studio or on the dance floor, our students demonstrate generosity, courage and a willingness to share their gifts for the benefit of others.

I am continually inspired by the example offered by our young people, and grateful to the staff and families who nurture these opportunities.  As we look ahead, may we keep celebrating the many ways our students bring joy, purpose and hope to our College.
