Faith and Community

In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus challenges us to rethink what true hospitality looks like:

“When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Luke 14:13–14)

These words invite us to see hospitality not as an exchange, but as a generous gift, opening our hearts and lives to others without expecting anything in return.

Over the past two weeks, our Year 7 and Year 8 students have had the opportunity to attend and lead Mass at St Mary’s Parish. Through reading, offering prayers, and serving, they have played an important role in making these celebrations meaningful and welcoming for everyone.

We are especially grateful for the support and leadership of Father Novie, who continually encourages us to live out the Gospel in our daily lives. In celebrating this Mass together, we are reminded that our community is strongest when we connect with one another. Just as Jesus invites us to include everyone at the table, we are called to live as a people of welcome, gratitude and hope.

BASP Food Drive

During week five and six of term, we will be running our annual Food Drive to support the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP), one of our Kildare Ministries works dedicated to offering dignity and practical assistance to people seeking asylum.

Collection boxes will be placed at the front of the campus and at student services. We are inviting both students and staff to get involved.

This initiative is not just about collecting items - it is about living out our call to serve others through hospitality.

By supporting BASP, we are extending a welcome to those in our wider community who are seeking safety and a fresh start.

Our value of hospitality invites us to open our hearts, offer practical generosity and create a sense of belonging for those less fortunate than ourselves.
