Loreto Community Day – Celebrating our History Through Art and Story
As you may know, Loreto College Marryatville is proud to be hosting Contemporary springART 2025, presented by Booth Real Estate, next weekend from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 September. By now, you may have spotted some of our Loreto signage around town or have seen the beautiful feature artworks on display at Burnside Village. This year’s Contemporary springART will showcase the work of over 60 talented South Australian artists while raising funds for Loreto’s Artist in Residence Program. Established in 1999, this program offers students valuable, professional artistic experiences that inspire creativity, deepen learning, and enrich their education.
Don’t miss Opening Night on Friday 5 September – this is an exclusive ticketed event offering first access to purchase artworks. Enjoy canapés by Glen Ewin Estate, wines from Sidewood Estate, and tunes from DJ Driller. Guests will also hear from special guest speaker Penny Griggs, a passionate advocate for the South Australian arts scene.
Opening Night tickets are just $70 and available now via the link here.
The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge on both Saturday and Sunday, featuring the new Emporium with beautiful bespoke textiles and jewellery created by South Australian makers. On Saturday afternoon, you are invited to join a free Artist Panel Discussion with this year’s featured artist Quentin Gore, emerging artist Tess Bartholomew, and Contemporary springART curator and artist Marisha Matthews. The Contemporary springART gallery will be open Saturday 11:00am – 3:00pm.
On Sunday, the P&F will be hosting a Father’s Day BBQ, and coffee will be available from the Felicity Café. We encourage families to drop by for an egg and bacon roll while enjoying the Reception to Year 4 Dads and Special Friends Exhibition in the café. The Contemporary springART gallery will also be open from 10:30am to 1:00pm.
Join us to celebrate and support arts education through this inspiring event. If you are unable to attend, you can still support the College by purchasing raffle tickets via the link here.
A Sunny Afternoon for the Loreto Ladies Lunch
Our annual Loreto Ladies Lunch was a lovely gathering this year at Ayres House. The setting was beautiful, topped off with sunlight streaming through large windows and filling the space with natural light. It made for such a bright and welcoming atmosphere, perfectly matching the positive energy everyone brought with them.
We were thrilled to see a great mix of women attending, old scholars, current parents, and long-time friends of the College, as well as some who were joining us for the very first time. It’s always so encouraging to have new faces alongside familiar ones, showing how the Loreto community continues to grow and support one another year after year.
A highlight was hearing from Tessa Opie, an old scholar (1999) and passionate advocate for girls and young women. Tessa’s words were inspiring and heartfelt, reminding us why we come together: to support one another, to encourage the next generation, and to keep building a future where our girls can lead with confidence and conviction.
We want to say a big thank you to everyone who came along, whether it was your first time or you’ve been attending for years. Your support means so much and helps keep the Loreto spirit alive and thriving. We are already looking forward to next year’s lunch and hope to see even more of you there!

Keeping Talbot Grove Safe for Everyone
We ask all parents to please support safety on Talbot Grove. Vehicles must not stop to drop children off, as this creates dangerous bottlenecks. Please take extra care when crossing the road and ensure all traffic rules are followed at all times. Your cooperation helps keep our students and community safe.
From the Health Care Centre
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we are amid the winter season, we kindly ask that if your daughter is unwell with any infectious illness, she remains at home until she has fully recovered and is free of symptoms. This helps us protect the health and wellbeing of our entire school community, especially those who are immunocompromised.
Please notify both your daughter’s class teacher and the College Nurse by emailing healthcarecentre@loreto.sa.edu.au if your daughter is diagnosed with or experiencing symptoms of an infectious illness.
Common symptoms to watch for include:
· Fever
· Runny nose
· Cough
· Sore throat
· Vomiting
· Diarrhoea
· Headache
Please be aware that the infectious period can vary depending on the specific illness. For detailed and accurate guidance, we recommend consulting the SA Health guidelines.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep the Loreto community safe and healthy. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the Health Care Centre at healthcarecentre@loreto.sa.edu.au
Warm regards,
Nurse Alice
