Over the past fortnight, Year 10 and Year 11 students have sat their mid-year examinations — and it has been genuinely pleasing to see the manner in which they have approached them.

Students arrived prepared, settled quickly, and worked with focus and purpose throughout. The exam rooms carried a quiet seriousness that speaks well of the cohort, and staff have been impressed by the conduct and composure shown across both year levels.

Examinations at this stage of schooling serve an important purpose beyond the results themselves. Sitting in formal exam conditions — managing time, sustaining concentration, working independently under pressure — are skills that develop with practice. The experience students accumulate in Years 10 and 11 directly prepares them for the demands of Year 12 examinations.

For our Year 10s in particular, this was their first experience of Senior School exams, and they adapted quickly to the processes and expectations involved. It was an encouraging sign of things to come.

It is also worth noting that full winter academic uniform is expected for all examination sessions. This is a straightforward expectation, and one that reinforces the formal nature of the occasion. Families can help by checking in with students before exam days to make sure they are dressed and ready.

Thank you to families for your support in the lead-up to this exam period — the conversations you have at home about preparation, sleep and managing nerves make a real difference. We look forward to sharing results with students and families in due course.
