Andy Griffiths

Andy Griffiths visited our school thanks to the generosity of The Little Bookroom, Pan Macmillan, and our library education support staff member Lynne Bonney who entered our school into a competition to win a free visit from Andy.

The visit was a HUGE success, with students of all ages laughing and interacting with Andy's entertaining and engaging stories.

He introduced his amazing new series: YOU AND ME and LET'S GO!

The whole school played along and created a new "Oh No! Oh Yeah!" story.

Edward, Otto, Lilliana, and Tui were wonderful as the students hosts on the day.

Book Parade

Our annual book week parade was another BIG success. Thanks to all of the families who supported students on the day (and behind the scenes with those last-minute costume preparations!)

Congratulations to our prep classes who enjoyed their first book parade at BSW.

Across the school our students voted for the book they thought should be the BSW Picture Book of the Year. Students judged illustrations, text, a hidden message, how the books made them feel, and the "x" factor such as a surprise ending.

Bob and Dob by Sean Avery is this year's winner, with a very close second place going to Once I Was a Giant by Zeno Sworder.

Grade 5 and 6 students Emma, Kristin, Tui, Lexi, and Chloe prepared a wonderful power point presentation, wrote the script, and hosted the event with flair and expertise.

Thanks to all of our wonderful teachers who took part with enthusiasm, and creativity, as brilliant role models for books and reading.
