Year 2 - Newsletter

Dear Parents,

What a great start we have had to Term 3! It is hard to believe we are already one month into the term!

What's happening in the classroom this term?

Mathematics

We are now well underway with our Multiplication and Division unit. We have explored different strategies we can use to help with our knowledge and understanding of these concepts. Some of these strategies include; repeated addition and subtraction, skip counting, and arrays.  

Literacy

It’s been a fun start to our Autobiography unit. We have explored the differences between biographies and autobiographies, as well as looking at the structure of these writing pieces. The information gathered from home has been very helpful, and I look forward to the finished pieces coming home for you to read through together.

Inquiry

Our Inquiry unit for this term is "The Best Designs Come from Many Minds." This unit will focus on two key areas:

• Design and creativity
• Teamwork and cooperation

We were so lucky to have such a fun and engaging Billy Cart incursion last week. The students had a blast creating, problem solving, building and exploring designs and of course riding billy carts. This will be one to remember!

Reminders

• Please continue to read regularly at home and return readers to school.
• Mathletics tasks have been assigned and are available for your child to complete at home if they choose.

Term 3 is often the cold and flu season, with coughs and colds moving through the year level. 

Please keep your child at home if they are feeling unwell to help prevent the spread of illness.

The Year 2 Team
