TERM 2 Overview

Performing Arts Focus

This term in Performing Arts, students will balance their time between music theory and practice, with a shift toward drama as the term progresses.

Prep

Prep students will dive into the world of music, exploring different instruments and their unique sounds, while also discussing the role music plays in our lives and communities. As the term progresses, we will shift our focus to drama, where students will build confidence through role-play and storytelling, using character work and expression to bring stories to life.

Year 1/2

Students are developing their listening skills by exploring beat and rhythm through body percussion and musical instruments. We will also be looking at the diverse ways music is created and enjoyed across the globe. In our drama sessions, students will bring stories to life by experimenting with vocal expression, puppets, readers theatre, and role-play.

Year 3/4

This term, students are shifting their focus to creative composition, using instruments and body percussion to craft their own unique musical pieces. In our drama sessions, we will be exploring the art of storytelling through readers theatre and dramatic readings. Students will build confidence by rehearsing these pieces and presenting their performances to the class.

Year 5/6

Students are sharpening their listening skills by exploring how music from different cultures and time periods helps tell a story. In drama, students are embracing their creativity; they are using pictures as inspiration to write their own scripts and bringing their original short plays to life for their classmates.
