Sport

What a big few weeks for our students in Sport it has been!
Over the past few weeks, our Prep students have been developing their fundamental movement skills through a range of fun tag-based games, focusing on running, stopping safely, following simple rules, and learning about fair play and teamwork. They have progressed from basic chase games to “Red Light, Green Light,” obstacle courses, and simple relay activities, building their confidence in moving safely in shared spaces and working cooperatively with others. To come, students will begin a short introductory AFL unit, where they will continue to develop their coordination, ball skills, and understanding of teamwork through modified and age-appropriate activities.
Over the past few weeks, our Year 1/2 students have been developing their teamwork, coordination, and ball skills through a variety of small-sided games and activities. They have practised dodging, chasing, passing, and receiving while focusing on cooperation, fair play, and following rules in games such as tag, relays, and mini team challenges. Students have also worked in pairs and small teams to build confidence and communication on the field. To come, students will begin a short introductory AFL unit, where they will continue to develop their fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and game understanding through modified and age-appropriate AFL activities.
Over the past few weeks, our Year 3–6 students have been developing their striking and fielding skills through a T-ball unit, focusing on throwing, catching, batting, and fielding with increasing accuracy and control. Students have practised key skills individually and in small groups, then applied them in modified games where teamwork, communication, and fair play have been a strong focus. They have also worked on understanding game roles, rotating positions, and supporting their teammates during play. To come, students will begin a short AFL unit, where they will further develop their coordination, game awareness, and teamwork through modified AFL activities.
