Operation Art

The annual Operation Art program is open for applications from students in Kindergarten to Year 6. This program is an initiative of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and provides students with an opportunity to share their creativity with others. Student artworks are showcased through an exhibition which is shared in varying locations across New South Wales including Sydney Olympic Park and the Art Gallery of NSW.

This is an optional creative opportunity for Strathfield South Public School students to participate with 2 artworks selected to represent our school.

The closing date for entries is Friday 31st May, 2024.

Some items to consider for this program include the importance of completing the artwork release form, ensuring your name and school are clearly written on the back of your artwork in pencil and finally the artwork is no bigger than A2 in size and a maximum of 5mm thick.

School Uniform

Wearing School Uniform Everyday

The department supports the wearing of school uniforms, which promotes a sense of belonging for students and creates a positive identity for the school community.

School uniform includes wearing a School Hat.

Attendance

This is a reminder that school begins at 8:55am.

Students who arrive after this time are considered to be late and are registered on our Attendance Tracking as being late to school.

Frequent lateness and absences are monitored by the school’s attendance officer and the Department of Education Home School Liaison Officer.

Students who are regularly late will be asked for the reasons for being late; ‘sleeping in’ is not a justified reason for being late.

Responsibility for being on time to school lies with parents.

Please ensure you are getting your children to school on time every day as this regular attendance is what makes the difference long term.

Road Safety

Drivers must obey the school zone speed limit of 40km/h during the times on the school zone signs. The lower speed limit improves safety.

The ‘Kiss and Ride Zone’ is designed for your convenience and for your child’s safety. It is designed for quick entry and exit and minimises congestion and risk when used properly by all parents and carers. The zone operates under the same conditions as no parking zones, which means you may stop to drop off or pick up children for a maximum of 2 minutes. You're required to remain in, or within 3 metres of, your vehicle. The zone operates as a Kiss and Drop zone 8.00 – 9.30am and 2.30-4.00pm only. It is a no parking zone during these times.
