Nabanita Shome Visit
Nabanita Shome, Associate Director at the Mary Ward Centre at Kolkata, India visited our College on Thursday 8 September speaking to our Year 7s and 8s and also our Mavericks advocacy group. Nabanita’s presentation to our students brought to life in a very real way what it means to bring dignity to each other, giving preferential treatment of the poor and constantly striving towards the common good. Mary Ward International Australia is our Loreto charity and we are thankful to them for bringing Nabanita to our community and the work they continue to do in Mary Ward’s name throughout the world. We are called to make the world a better place and Nabanita showed us on Thursday how this is possible.
Graduation Mass 2026
Zoe Timothy Class of 2026 said our final words before our graduates processed out of the Cathedral on Thursday 15 October, it encapsulates exactly the women in time who will do much.
As we prepare to leave this Cathedral, to leave with the group that contains many of our closest friends, to leave with our families who have supported us over the past 13 years of our education, we take the light that has been given to us out into the world. We know that we will be supported in the future as we have been in the past but we are being challenged to be light to the world. To witness to the faith that we have been given.
The light of Christ asks us to bear witness to our faith. To care for those in need, to visit those who are sick or imprisoned, to work at improving the world to which we belong. The work that awaits us is in need of the light that we have.
As the candles of each student of the Class of 2026 are lit, I would ask you to pray for us, that we may look forward to taking our place in the world and that we may embrace the future full of hope and optimism.
