Audiobooks: Reading for Busy Lives

Young people lead busy lives, and finding time to sit down with a book can be challenging, particularly if reading has slipped out of their regular routine. Audiobooks can be a valuable way to re-engage with reading while fitting easily into a busy schedule. Convenient and portable, they can be accessed through an app on their phone, allowing students to enjoy books while travelling to school, completing household chores, or waiting between activities.

Through the Wheelers ePlatform, Loreto students have access to a wide range of ebooks and audiobooks. While many students access the platform on their school laptop for in-class reading, the mobile app also makes it easy to listen on the go. After downloading the app, students can log in using their Loreto credentials and access more than 1,000 audiobooks, particularly chosen to appeal to young adult readers.

Families looking to get the most from the platform can find advice and step-by-step “how-to” videos on the Library website. Students are also welcome to speak with Library staff if they need assistance setting up the app or finding their next great read.

If your child has never tried an audiobook before, this may be the perfect opportunity to start. Encourage them to download the app, explore the collection, and discover a new way to enjoy books. Their next great read might just begin with a listen.

Happy Reading!
