Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
Term 3 has been a busy time. With Semester 2 subjects commenced a couple of weeks before the mid-year holidays, it has been a busy time working toward new CATs and SACs for all. We have seen the mornings start quite cold, but as the days have developed, we are seeing them becoming warmer in the afternoons. With the end of August rapidly approaching, the beginning of Spring feels so close.
This Term we have seen a number of activities occurring in the school. Students have continued to be presented with a range of opportunities from our clubs, programmes to representing the College in sport and also robotics!
Exhibition of Art Work
In Walton, we have welcomed exhibitions of student work from The Arts which has brightened our Presentation Space. The work currently on display is from the Drawing Class that ran in Semester 1 and shows the use of colour, tone and also how they observed a still life setting. The work has been viewed by many students and shows the talents of Year 8 and 9 students who took this subject.
Book Fair
English Week saw an amazing Book Fair where students were brought to the Walton Presentation Space and had the opportunity to select books for their own libraries at home! This initiative was very popular among the students with books for all age groups and interests on offer. Many a student was observed leaving with a stack of new books to engage in reading. Such a wonderful opportunity for all students in our school community.
VEX Robotics Team
The Walton Building is home to the STEM Centre and the Robotics Club and Team. This term, students have represented the College in the VEX Robotics Tournament held at St Andrews College in Wantirna. The team has been training hard and working together for the best possible outcomes. On the day, our Junior Team qualified for the next round and came in 15th place while our Senior Team made the finals round, qualifying in 17th. A hearty congratulations to all the students involved and thank you for representing HPSC.
