Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers and staff,
We have had an exciting start to Term 3 with our school production Bring it on! taking centre stage in the very first week. What a mighty performance by our students – their energy, talent, and teamwork were on full display. A big congratulations to the staff and crew for their tireless effort in supporting students to bring the show to life. With a primary school matinee, two evening shows, and a Saturday lunchtime performance, the production was a huge success. Well done to everyone involved!
This week, our Curriculum Day was held on Tuesday 19th August. The day staff worked on further extending their classroom practice to support student learning.
Student voice and agency has a strong focus this year. In the final week of Term 2, our Student Leaders Forum was held. This was a student led program where our student leaders undertook a reflection about the impact of leadership and considered the preliminary results of the Student Attitudes to School Survey.
Student Attitudes to School Survey
Last term, students completed the annual student survey set by Depart of Education. I am delighted to share that from the 27 categories, we have seen improvement in 24 when compared with our 2024 data. This is impressive as last year we matched or were higher than similar schools, Network and State results. We do, however, acknowledge that although we celebrate these results, we still have more to do.
NAPLAN results
Our NAPLAN results recently become available. In Year 7 our results in Reading, Writing and Spelling are will slightly above our similar school comparison. In the areas of both Grammar and Numeracy we match similar schools in our achievement. As NAPLAN is completed very early in the year, much of this data is considered to belong to our feeder primary schools.
In Year 9, we achieved higher than similar schools in the categories of Writing, Spelling and Numeracy. We matched similar school in Reading and achieved slightly less than similar schools in Grammar. When we consider our matched cohort, the students who have been with us from Year 7 to Year 9 we can observe considerable growth in the learning outcomes. We will use this information to evaluate our programs and approaches, as we are always striving for further improvement.
As I write this message, the Parent/Carer Survey opens which runs from 18th August to 19th September. Your feedback is highly valuable in shaping our school’s direction.
Course Counselling for 2026 pathways is also underway: with the following dates specifically for the Year 9 and 10. The curriculum changes for 2026, will provide students with guaranteed and enhanced opportunities designed to improve student learning.
- Year 9 into 10 – Monday 18th August
Year 10 into 11 – Monday 25th August
Our students have been working exceptionally hard in preparation for our Annual Multicultural Evening Showcase on Tuesday, 26th August.
The evening will begin with Pre-show entertainment from 5:00pm, followed by the main showcase commencing at 6:00pm. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the diverse cultures, talents, and creativity of our students. Tickets are now available via CompassTix – Home. We look forward to sharing this special evening with you.
We are also looking forward to the 4C’s (Cultivating Creative Cultures with Communities) performance at Bunjil Place on Monday 1st September at 5.45pm. This is another fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their skills and to celebrate the pride that they have in their culture to a wider audience.
Later this term, our Student-Led Conferences will be held on Tuesday 9th September (during normal school hours) and Wednesday 10th September (students dismissed at lunchtime; conferences from 2.00–4.00pm). Students in Years 7–9 will present their portfolios, while Years 10–12 conferences will run as usual.
The House Athletics Carnival will take place at Casey Fields on Friday 12th September – always a highlight of the school calendar, bringing together house spirit, competition, and fun.
The construction of our new Maintenance Shed, which will be located near the basketball courts on Campbell Drive will commence in September. Adjacent to this will be a new Bike Shed, which will be available for student use in 2026.
Thank you, for your ongoing support.
