Wellbeing Team News

AUGUST ALREADY? 🫠
Heading towards the end of the year, already?!
Yes! We can’t believe it either. Yesterday felt like Term 1, and now we’re more than halfway through Term 3. The hard work of both the students and staff have helped this Term fly by! Here’s the Team’s mid - Term update:
PROGRAMS ARE BACK AGAIN! 🔄👩🏫
The Wellbeing Team are always scoping new programs and brainstorming new ideas and partnerships – and we’re excited to have launched a few this Term! At the same time, students are graduating from ongoing programs, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved! A few of these include:
Raise Mentoring
- 10 Paris of Mentees and Community Mentors have worked hard over the past 2 Terms to flourish in personal, careers, and academic goals. A massive congratulations to our soon-to-be graduates on their hard work and openness to the program. A huge thank you to all of our Volunteer Mentors for their tireless dedication to working with our students – we are grateful for your support and time over the past Semester! Graduation pics to come in next edition. 📸
- Working with the pilot group for the new program ‘Deeper Roots’, the Community Support Group Team at Centre for Multicultural Youth have been hard at work with some of our Juniors. We’re grateful to EJ and Atong for their support of the South Sudanese community across Casey and Dandenong and are excited for the growth and great work to come! 🌍
- St Kilda Gatehouse are working with our Year 9/10 Students for the 2nd year to deliver their Know Yourself program, helping develop confidence and important skills personally and socially. We’re excited to watch our students grow alongside each other and closer together after the 6 weeks. 💭
- 2 Giant Programs collide - the Team at Jesuit Social Services, Jordan Schmidt from Modern Mentality, and School Staff are teaming up to pioneer a proactive program in class time, working to bring leadership skills, accountability, resilience, and positive mindset. We’re excited to see our Boys flourish, and teach the Staff their Rugby skills! One of them, definitely needs work… 😂🏉
- Our second Link-Up Group with our NPELS Transition Students has had a great start! It’s been incredible seeing the growth in confidence, understanding of Wellbeing, and familiarity with the school and community and supports. We’re excited to give another update on this at the end of term. ⛓️

BACK TO BACK CELEBRATION DAYS! 🎊
August and September is our favourite, but at the same time, most hectic time of year! We’re working hard to plan and deliver another massive Celebration Event both for Wear It Purple Day – an international day celebrating pride and inclusivity, and RUOK? Day – Australia’s annual Mental Health event encouraging self-care and connection. Keep you eyes peeled for Compass announcements about our upcoming festivities! 🎉🏳️🌈🧠
THE TEAM GROWS! 👏
Over the past few years, the Wellbeing Team has been assisted by a variety of Practitioners and Professionals who serve critical roles in our support of the students. We’d love to welcome our two new Provisional Psychologists on placement here at the college from ISN Clinic, Arian and Fae – along with Khadiza, one of the Social Work Placement Students from ACAP University College! Welcome to HPSC, we’re excited to have you on board for the Semester, and to see your professional growth. We’re also sad to see our veteran Health Promotion Nurse, Kaye Walker, leave the team! But, we’re excited for you in your new Journey at Fairhills High School. Thanks for all your hard work over the past years, and we’ll see you at events in the future! 🤝
