House News

Hello Mabo Students and families,

As we move through Term 3, our school community continues to shine with energy, achievement, and connection. Students have been engaging in a wide range of learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, with highlights including extracurricular activities during Learning Domain Weeks, cultural celebrations, and sporting successes.

Staff and students are working together to build on the strong progress made earlier in the year, while also preparing for important upcoming events and assessments. We encourage families to stay connected through our regular updates, celebrate the many successes of our students, and support them in making the most of the opportunities this busy and exciting term provides.

Performing Arts College Production

Our school proudly staged a vibrant production of Bring It On: The Musical, showcasing the incredible talent, energy, and dedication of our students. Over three shows, the cast and crew delivered high-energy performances filled with dynamic choreography, powerful vocals, and a contagious spirit of teamwork. The production highlighted the hard work of not only the performers but also the backstage crew, musicians, and staff who brought the show to life. Each performance drew enthusiastic audiences, who were swept up in the excitement, humour, and heart of the story. The success of the production reflected the creativity, resilience, and passion of our school community, making it a memorable highlight of the year.

Thank you to the following Mabo students who undertook many roles in the production:

YR 8 Levi Holley, Ayesha Khan

Course Counselling for 2026

Course counselling is now underway following the recent pathways presentations that helped students explore their future study and career options. These sessions are an important opportunity for students to make informed decisions about their subjects and plan their next steps with confidence. If you have any questions or would like further support during this process, please don’t hesitate to contact the Mabo House Team, who are available to provide guidance and assistance.

Performing Arts Multicultural Celebrations

We are excited to announce a number of upcoming events that will celebrate and showcase the rich multicultural diversity within our school community. On Tuesday 26 August from 6:00–7:00 pm, we invite families to join us at the RPAC for an evening of performances and cultural expression. Following this, on Monday 1 September, our celebrations continue at Bunjil Place, where students will once again have the opportunity to share and embrace the diverse traditions, stories, and talents that make our community unique. These events are a wonderful chance to come together, connect, and celebrate the cultures that shape who we are.

Wellbeing- RU OK Day/Wear it Purple

On Friday 30 August, our school will proudly celebrate Wear It Purple Day, a day that promotes visibility, inclusion, and support for LGBTQIA+ young people. This year’s theme focuses on creating safe and empowering spaces where every student feels they truly belong. We encourage all students and staff to wear something purple to show their support and to stand together in celebrating diversity, respect, and community (please check Compass for ways we can wear purple closer to the day).

R U OK? Day...

is a reminder to check in with the people around us and start meaningful conversations. A simple question – “Are you OK?” – can make a big difference. We encourage all students to take the time to look out for friends, classmates, and family, and to seek support if you need it. Remember, it’s always OK to ask for help, and support is available from teachers, wellbeing staff, and trusted adult. As a community we will celebrate R U OK? Day on September 11.

Let’s make our school a place where everyone feels valued for who they are.

House Championship 2025

Mabo House – let’s keep the momentum going! We encourage all students to continue maintaining high levels of attendance, striving for Values nominations, and putting your best foot forward in the upcoming Learning Habit reports, which will be released on 7 September. Every effort counts, and each of these achievements contributes valuable House points towards the 2025 House Championship. Stay focused, stay committed, and let’s show the strength and spirit of Mabo House!

Athletics Carnival – Friday 5 September
