Trent Barrett

We had a great day in Tumut playing in the Trent Barrett Gala Day. Two of our students, Kaitlyn and Kyani, joined the public school to play tackle, while two of the public school students joined our league tag team.
Although it seems that league tag is just about running from end to end of the field, it turns out to be a lot more nuanced. We learnt that we should be standing in a V behind the dummy half (much more challenging than it sounds). We have to run straight (not backwards). We have to use two hands to pull tags. Once we’ve pulled tags, we have to stand as a marker. We can’t run until two people have touched the ball and we have to be back with the umpire to start running forward. We have to stay in the field of play, and then if we’re quick enough to run to the end, we have to put the ball down past the try line.
Lots to remember!!
We got there in the end and had a great time. We also had our old schoolmate Ruby McAuliffe as our coach with some extra support from Dusty Hulm.
What a fun day
