Valedictory Week

Farewelling our Year 12s in their last week of school is always a busy time. We kicked off Valedictory Week with a breakfast for our seniors to thank them for their many years of contributions to the College Arts program. This year the breakfast was hosted at St Monica’s College. We thank them for the delectable treats they made for the staff and students.

Following on from that was the Valedictory Mass and Assembly. Our cantors and Mass musicians acquitted themselves well without the seniors, and we celebrated our first liturgy with our new accompanist – Mrs Odgers. During the Valedictory Assembly the Year 10 Rock Band performed for the seniors with a special guest artist Raphael Bhattacharya on solo guitar. It was a fitting send off.

In the evening, there was a reception for the seniors and their families. The Guitar Ensemble performed several numbers, followed by Ben Johnson and Ms Tullara Connors performing for the crowd. It was a huge day which was well appreciated. Thank you to all the musicians involved for making the day so special.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Leo in Year 7 who has secured a position at the Melbourne Youth Orchestra's 2026 Summer School Residential Camp. While there, Leo will join over 800 young musicians for an inspirational week of musical discoveries, engaging workshops and performances in the heart of Melbourne. What an exciting week it will be.

SMC Excellence

Students in the CSC String Orchestra performed at St Monica’s Excellence evening on the 22 October in the foyer of the Cairns Performing Arts Centre. It was a fitting start to the evening. Thanks to the students and Ms Christine Marnane for their beautifully performed music.

Saints Unplugged Junior

Unplugged Junior is happening on Tuesday 11 November under Lavalla. The evening begins at 6pm with wonderful food provided by Mrs McKenzie and her hospitality heroes. Don’t miss this last opportunity to hear our talented musicians perform.

Annual Awards Evening

The Awards Evening is on Friday 21 November in Lennon Hall. The evening begins at 5:30pm. CSC Wind Ensemble, Saints Percussion Ensemble, Saints Choir and Saints Big Band are performing at this gala evening. All students are required to attend in performance uniforms.
