News from Foundation
As we wrap up our second term of Foundation, it’s wonderful to reflect on just how much our students have grown since the beginning of the year. They have worked incredibly hard to build routines, develop friendships, and embrace new learning experiences with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Throughout the term, students have continued to strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills, showing increasing confidence in recognising letters and sounds, reading and writing simple words, counting, and solving mathematical problems. They have also enjoyed exploring new topics through hands-on activities, creative play, and collaborative learning.
Beyond the classroom, our Foundation students have demonstrated kindness, resilience, and independence as they learn to work together, follow routines, and take pride in their achievements. It has been wonderful to watch their confidence blossom and see them tackle new challenges with a positive attitude.
We are incredibly proud of everything our students have accomplished this term and thank our families for their ongoing support and partnership. We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break and returns refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning and growth!
Cyber Safety
The Foundation students have enjoyed learning about Cyber Safety this Term. The focus has been all around how to be Responsible online! This week, we discussed who our trusted adults are that we can go to for support when we feel uncomfortable or need help. The Foundation students made a 'Helping Hand' and drew and wrote on the five fingers- 5 Trusted Adults that they can get help from.
BINGO!
Wooohooo, in Foundation, we have been playing BINGO to help with our sound and letter recognition! The students drew a grid on their board, choosing the sounds we had learned to add to their board. They watched on the TV for the Wheel Randomiser to pick a sound and crossed it off their sheets! We had three winners for our first day of BINGO Fun! Harry, Tommy and Bailey! Well done! You may try this game at home!
Handwriting
The Foundation students have been practising their handwriting on the lines and focusing on the size of the letter. They have been practising their formation perfectly! Well Done!
Maths
This week, the Foundation students have been focusing on numbers 11-20. They have been exploring the language of tens and ones and describing numbers such as 11 is 1 ten and 1 one or 1 ten and 1 more. This builds their understanding of knowing what the number physically looks like. Here are some matching activities they did some learning on. You may like to do this on the holidays! Matching the number to a collection of objects!
Next Term
100 days of school is coming up next Term on 29th July!!!
The students voted on what they wanted the dress up to be this year, and they picked to dress up as...... 'What do I want to be when I am older?"!
We cannot wait for a day of fun celebrating!!!
