Dear families,
School Donation Presentation - Assembly this Friday
Williamstown Primary School has been extremely fortunate to receive a generous $2,500 donation from the Walk A Mile In My Shoes Foundation, supported by Treehaus Williamstown and Jellis Craig.
The donation, which was originally coordinated through parent Emma Ferrier, will directly support the school’s wellbeing programs, in particular the recently implemented Lego – Positive Minds Build Series program.
The donation further enhances our extensive student wellbeing supports and programs, which currently include:
Student wellbeing remains at the centre of all we do at Williamstown Primary School, with a continued commitment to ensuring every Willy Kid feels safe, supported, connected and ready to learn.
We are also pleased to share that Justine Brogna, Chair and Founder of the Walk A Mile In My Shoes Foundation, will be attending this week’s assembly to formally present the cheque to the school.
School Reports
Williamstown Primary School will be providing Semester 1 student achievement reports to families as usual this term. Reports will be distributed via Compass on Friday 19th June.
The reports will continue to provide important information regarding student learning growth, achievement and progress across curriculum areas. However, families are advised that full descriptive comments will not be included in all reports as a result of industrial action undertaken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.
Despite this adjustment, staff have continued to work diligently to ensure reports provide meaningful information regarding student achievement and progress throughout Semester 1.
Families will have the opportunity to further discuss their child’s learning and progress during our upcoming student conferences scheduled for Tuesday 23rd June. Booking for these conferences will open on Monday 15th June, 4pm.
We thank families for their ongoing support and understanding.
Grounds Project Update
Our current grounds project is almost complete, with the school now eagerly awaiting the delivery and installation of our new GaGa Pit later this week.
The project has already significantly enhanced this area of the school and will provide students with another engaging and active play space to enjoy.
This project has only been possible due to the incredible fundraising efforts of our Seaside Fair team and broader school community throughout last year. The time, energy and commitment shown by so many volunteers continues to have a lasting impact on the experiences and opportunities available to our Willy Kids.
School Uniform
As we move further into the colder months, this is a friendly reminder that all students are expected to wear the appropriate school uniform each day, including approved outerwear.
While students may choose to wear a warmer jacket to and from school over the top of their uniform, the required royal blue leg wear options must still be worn at all times in line with the school uniform policy.
Families are also reminded that the school uniform shop stocks a range of winter uniform items and jackets to support students during the colder weather.
We appreciate families continuing to support our uniform expectations and encourage students to clearly label all uniform items, particularly jackets and jumpers, as we head into winter.
Morning Fruit Program
Our Morning Fruit Program continues this Friday, with free fruit available for students before school and again at recess time outside the Library.
We encourage all students to come along and grab a piece of fruit as part of supporting healthy eating habits throughout the school day.
Thank you again to everyone for the positive support of the program.
Mother’s Day Luncheon
A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in coordinating and supporting last weekend’s Mother’s Luncheon.
The event was a tremendous success and a wonderful reflection of the strong community spirit that exists within Williamstown Primary School. Through the incredible work of the organisers, volunteers, sponsors and attendees, the luncheon raised an extraordinary amount of just under $10,000.
A special thank you to the Friends of Willy team for their outstanding leadership and organisation of the event. Your time, energy and commitment are greatly appreciated.
School Enrolment Tours
We are looking forward to hosting our third Prep 2027 School Tour this coming Thursday at 2:30pm.
It has been wonderful to see such strong interest in Williamstown Primary School throughout our transition and enrolment process, with families having the opportunity to see our learning environment in action, meet members of our leadership team and hear directly from our student leaders about what it means to be a Willy Kid.
We look forward to welcoming prospective families to our school community once again this Thursday.
Kings Birthday
A reminder to families that Monday 8th June is the King’s Birthday public holiday.
There will be no school for students on this day, with classes resuming as normal on Tuesday 9th June.
Warm regards,
Mat Montebello
