Year 1/2 Unit

Hello 1/2 families
Here is a roundup of the past fortnight in the 1/2 Unit:
Inquiry
The 1/2 students are about to embark on an art project that will showcase the themes we have covered in our Inquiry lessons this term. Please keep your eye out for a Compass notification asking for donations of particular items.
Bullying No Way! Week
This week, our school community has celebrated Bullying No Way Week. It has been a fantastic opportunity to reinforce our deep commitment to keeping our school a safe, inclusive, and respectful home for everyone.
Guided by this year's wonderful theme, “Small Acts, Big Impact!”, our Year 1/2 classrooms have focused on a simple, heart-warming message each day. We have been exploring real-life examples of everyday kindness and chatting about the simple things our children can do to lift each other up.
Our students have also been busy crafting and building a vibrant display filled with positive messages and ideas on how to foster genuine connections.
One of the absolute highlights has been exploring the concept of “bucket filling”. The children have loved learning that when we show kindness to someone else, we don't just fill their bucket—we fill our own heart, too! It is a truly beautiful concept and a fantastic conversation starter to share with your child at the dinner table this week.
Thank you for partnering with us to grow such a kind, connected community.
Brainstorm Productions
Last Wednesday, the Year 2s had the opportunity to watch a performance presented by Brainstorm Productions. The performance, titled ‘The Protectors’ followed the story of Leo and Serena, who were struggling to get along with their peers. When Leo and Serena entered ‘Protector School’ they discovered that empathy, assertiveness and respect were their real superpowers. They learnt how to build resilience and positive connections at school, at home and online.
The Year 2s thoroughly enjoyed the experience and engaged in many discussions around protective behaviours.
Finally we’d like to congratulate Edith, Thea, Winnie and Winnie for being the very first 1/2 students to present at Assembly this year. The girls spoke confidently and eloquently about our excursion to the Melbourne Aquarium and the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. We were all very proud of them. We look forward to further presentations by 1/2 students later in the year.
