Schools Recommendation Program

The University of Tasmania’s Schools Recommendation Program is a program allowing Australian Year 12 students to apply for up to five courses and receive a conditional offer before the final results are released.

So, rather than only the ATAR, the application is based on a student’s school recommendation and their Year 11 results. It has been designed to give students confidence in completing their Year 12 and receiving a university place in 2027.

Applications are open, and there are a number of application rounds, and applications can be submitted right up to 5 October 2026.  Applicants will be notified of their success after UTAS has received the recommendation from their school.

Students are encouraged to browse UTAS School’s Recommendation Program to find out more.

Medicine Applications for 2027 Entry

Domestic applications for Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine are now open and close on 30 September 2026.  All applicants require a valid UCAT ANZ score. Groups of applicants with the same ATAR will be ranked by using the UCAT ANZ score as a secondary ranking method.

Be challenged to use your knowledge and skills to help people and make a real difference to Tasmania and the world by contributing to positive health outcomes and improving health care systems at local, national and global levels.

The combined degree, the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (BMedScMD), accredited by the Australian Medical Council, prepares students to take a front-line leadership role as a doctor in health care delivery.

Applications opened 1 August 2026 and close 11:59 pm 30 September 2026 AEST.   Students must apply directly to UTAS via the online portal - Apply to UTAS
