Year Two Team News

with Joel, Bianca I, Zoe and Rochelle

Hello Year Two families,

We are past the halfway mark of what has been an extremely busy and exciting term so far, yet there remains so much still to look forward to!

As we ‘wind up’ our oral presentations for the term, we would like to thank you for supporting your children with this task. Over the past few weeks it has been wonderful listening to the oral presentations about the ways different people’s families played in the past.

We were very impressed with the persuasive techniques our Grade 2s brought to their writing over the past couple of weeks. Students were asked to select a topic, justify their opinion with three reasons and include additional information to back their reason. There are a few examples below for you to read and enjoy!

Important news:

  • Tomorrow, Friday 21/8: Book Week dress up parade and incursion.

Curriculum Focus: Weeks 7 and 8

Literacy: In Reading, we will be focusing on making inferences to improve comprehension. All classes are enjoying this term’s class novel, ‘Polly & Buster’ and the conversations that follow.

Numeracy:  Fractions - revising skills and key understandings to describe one-half as one of 2 equal parts of a whole and connect halves, quarters and eighths through repeated halving. Students will also begin identifying fractions of a collection.

Inquiry: We will continue to learn about toys from the past and analyse how toys and play have changed over time.

Willy Kids: Through the pillar of Resilience, we will be learning about perseverance and how it helps us with both our learning at school and with many other aspects of our everyday lives.

Until next time,

The Grade Two Team - Joel Kitchen (2J), Bianca Italiano / Zoe Kitchen (2I) & Rochelle White (2W)
