Head of Year 11 & 12 News

It has been another busy few weeks in the Senior School, with plenty happening as our Year 12s head towards the finish line and our Year 11s begin preparing to step into their shoes.

Our Year 10–12 students recently participated in the RYDA Road Safety Program, and we were incredibly proud of the way they represented our school. Students engaged enthusiastically with the facilitators and explored the very real responsibilities that come with being a driver and passenger, including safe decision-making, stopping distances, attitudes, distractions and the influence they can have on their friends.

For our Year 12s, the countdown is well and truly on! QTAC applications are underway, and we are already celebrating some students receiving early university offers, a huge congratulations to those students on this well-deserved achievement.

There is also plenty to look forward to next term. Formal invitations will be heading out early in the term, and preparations are well underway for the Year 12 Senior Trip to the Sunshine Coast. We are currently estimating the cost at approximately $89 per student, although we are still awaiting final quotes and will provide confirmed details as soon as possible.

In Week 3, all Year 12 students will also complete their First Aid training on Thursday, gaining valuable practical skills as well as 2 QCE points. This is a compulsory part of our Year 12 program, so it is important that all students attend.

Meanwhile, our Year 11s are already beginning their transition into becoming our 2027 seniors. They are putting the finishing touches on their senior jersey and shirt designs and have even started scouting potential formal venues ready to lock one in next term.

We are also incredibly proud of the number of Year 11 students who have put their hands up for leadership opportunities and are already looking at ways they can make a positive difference within our school. Through PDP, and with the support of Ms Cerchi, Ms Stevenson and Ms Cole, students are developing some fantastic initiatives, including creating a Wellbeing Wall, painting rubbish bins to encourage cleaner school grounds, and promoting healthy food choices and their connection to wellbeing. It has been wonderful to see students identifying practical ways they can contribute to our school community and then taking responsibility for making those ideas happen.

There is certainly plenty happening in Senior School, and we are very proud of what our students are achieving. We are looking forward to an exciting final term as we celebrate our Year 12s and watch our Year 11s begin to step up as our next group of senior leaders.
