Year 3/4 News

This term, our Year 3/4 students have continued to engage enthusiastically in a range of rich learning experiences across Reading, Writing and Mathematics.

Reading

Students are learning to gather useful information from more than one text and combine information from different sources to build their knowledge about a topic. They are also exploring how visual information, such as photographs, diagrams, illustrations and other text features, can provide additional information and help deepen their understanding.

Writing

In Writing, students are learning to write an information paragraph explaining how migration has changed celebrations and cultural events in Australia. They are researching and organising relevant information and developing their ability to communicate ideas clearly using informative language.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, students are learning to identify, explain and use the properties of odd and even numbers. They are investigating number patterns and relationships and explaining how they know whether a number is odd or even. Students are also reconnecting with decimal notation, developing their understanding of tenths and hundredths and how these numbers can be represented and compared.

We have also had a wonderful time celebrating Science Week and Book Week! Students have participated in a range of engaging activities that encouraged curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. Science Week provided opportunities for students to explore scientific ideas and ask questions about the world around them, while Book Week allowed us to celebrate the joy of reading, characters, stories and imagination. It has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm and creativity students have shown throughout these celebrations.

It has been wonderful to see our students continue to grow in confidence, curiosity and independence as we move further into the term. We are very proud of their ongoing effort and enthusiasm for learning!
