Dear Clayton North Primary School Community

As we approach the end of Term 3, I would like to thank all families for your support in ensuring your children are wearing the correct school uniform, getting them to school on time, attending the weekly assemblies where you can, being across school and classroom communication, and ensuring provision of consent and payment via Compass for your children to attend school-organised events! 

Thank you to all families who have taken the time to provide feedback via the 2026 Parent Opinion Survey. Your input is important to us, and it will contribute greatly to the future management and organisation of our school. 

The 2026 Parent Opinion Survey will remain open until Friday 18 September 2026. We would like to hear from a wide cross-section of the school community, so please take the time to formally let us know how we are doing and where the gaps may be.

20 Years of Kid's Hope

On 23 August, Clayton North Primary School joined St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Clayton, to celebrate an outstanding 20-year partnership through the Kids Hope program.

The celebration was attended by Simon Warwick, the CEO of Kid's Hope in Australia, mentors and members of the church community. Josie and I attended as the CNPS representatives and we were pleased to share the school’s perspective on the difference the program has made to students over many years.

In preparing for my presentation, I also spoke with current Kid's Hope students and their teachers. Their reflections highlighted the value of having a trusted adult who listens, encourages and spends dedicated time with them, with teachers noting positive impacts on students’ confidence, communication, emotional regulation and sense of connection.

We are deeply grateful to the many mentors, past and present, who have given their time so generously, and to Linda Crawley for coordinating the program at CNPS and supporting this long-standing partnership.

Twenty years of Kids Hope is a wonderful example of the impact that strong school-community relationships can have in helping children feel known, supported and able to thrive.

Emergency Management Plan 

Each year, by 1 September, all Department of Education schools are required to update their Emergency Management Plan in preparation for summer and the warmer weather conditions across Victoria.

As part of this process, we remind families that Compass is our primary method of communication during an emergency. If an emergency situation were to occur, relevant information and instructions would be communicated via Compass to affected families, year levels or, where necessary, the whole school community.

This is therefore a timely reminder to ensure that Compass notifications are enabled on your device and that your contact details are up to date, so that you can receive important information promptly if required.

Final Student-Free Day 2026

We have one student-free day left for this year, out of the five days that families were notified of at the beginning of the year. Monday, 9th November will be used for finalising Semester 2 reports. 

Please also note that Tuesday 3rd November is the Melbourne Cup public holiday, so there are two student-free days in Term 4.

School Uniform

As we head into Term 4, I would like your support with the Clayton North Uniform Policy, which is attached below for your reference. Uniform items can be purchased from PSW, our uniform provider, located on Springvale Road in Glen Waverley.

To generate school pride and improve community perception of CNPS, it is important that all students attend in proper school uniform. 

If there is a reason why your child cannot wear the appropriate uniform, please make a time to discuss this with me before the end of this term. Thank you, in advance, for your continued support.

Over the coming months, we will begin transitioning to the updated CNPS school uniform featuring our new school logo. This transition has already commenced with our new Foundation students, who are expected to wear the new-logo uniform.

Families will receive further information shortly about the transition arrangements and timeframes.
