Languages & Cultures Week

From Monday, 31 August to Friday, 4 September, Languages & Cultures Week was celebrated at St Monica’s College. This significant week on the College calendar not only highlighted the many languages taught at the College and spoken by Monicans, but also the cultural richness which exists within our College community. The week’s events also featured cultural food, music and dress from various countries around the world.

The week began with a Music Showcase which featured European songs, a West African drumming exhibition and a Cultural Dress Competition which showcased traditional dress from the countries of Romania and Vietnam. The College congratulates the following students who participated in this event:

Further activities held during the week were an Education Perfect Competition, a West African Drumming Workshop and an International Dodgeball Competition.

I would like to thank all staff who assisted with Languages & Cultures Week. In particular, I thank Mr Talarico, Mr Novembre, Mr Coleman and Mr Morales Araneda for their participation in the week’s activities. I also thank Mr Asquino for his outstanding organisation of several of the week’s activities.

2026 Languages & Cultures Week Education Perfect Challenge

The Education Perfect Competition held during Languages & Cultures Week was embraced by a large number of students who put their foreign language skills to the test. Nearly 350 students in Years 7 & 8 participated in this event and answered 283,698 questions, scored 109,804 points and were engaged in learning for a total of 384 hours.
