Communicating with our teachers

Dear Parents and Guardians,
At St Philip’s College, we value open communication and appreciate the partnership we share with families in supporting the learning and wellbeing of our young people. Our teachers are committed professionals who work extremely hard to provide engaging and meaningful learning experiences every day.
Communication between parents and their children’s teachers is essential in forging a fruitful partnership between school and home. We welcome and value your communication with staff based upon timeliness, openness and trust.
Our staff are dedicated and always work in the best interests of the children, but like you need to maintain a healthy work-life balance. They need time to rest, recharge, and spend time with their families.
With this in mind, I ask you please to understand that staff are not expected to monitor, read or respond to correspondence outside of their designated working hours.
Whilst you are able to contact a staff member outside of school hours if this is a time that best suits you, please be reasonable with your expectation of when you will receive a reply. Teachers and support staff have scheduled classes, student queries and other duties and responsibilities, and they will do their very best to give your correspondence their attention when they are able.
Students understand this well, and their teachers will explain to them they will do all they can to reply to any enquiry, but they too must appreciate this will depend upon their teacher’s availability. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to work together to create a respectful and balanced environment with everyone’s wellbeing considered.
Kind regards,
Leslie Tilbrook
Principal
