"It is with heavy hearts we face today - a little girl taken tragically, a community in grief, confused as to how to express the seeming injustice of life in a world which has largely turned its back on God!

Having said that, many stand in prayer, seeking solutions, seeking the face of Jesus in the darkness, seeking a miracle. Yet today we face that waiting time between tragedy and healing!

We were created with the "terrible" gift of free will and God will not go back on that - so I believe He stands with us in our grief as somebody's choice for evil, finds us mourning a tiny innocent child.

We ask "Why??" We can even question our faith at times like this, and it seems like there are no answers, and we can also question living in a broken, shattered world. In spite of everything, may we cling to the fact that Jesus died through God's sacrificial love, to save us; that we saw our Community come together as one to search, to love, to hold the family, to bind the community and each other in courage and strength!

Despite the anger, frustration and despair we witnessed last night, we ask God, in the words of the simple chorus - BIND US TOGETHER  IN LOVE. May the waters of healing flow richly, may hope find its way into our hearts and holy justice prevail as we walk humbly with our God, trusting the process that will emerge!"

Psalm 23 - NIV - A Psalm of David

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,he leads me beside quiet waters,

he refreshes my soul.He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,[a]I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
