EVA GORDIENKO GYMNASTIC AWARDS
Recently Eva Gordienko of Year 11 competed in the Victorian Gymnastics State Championships, where she achieved the following results:

đ„Silver in the exercise with Hoop
đ„Silver All-Around
Eva was then selected to represent Victoria as part of the State Team at the Australian Gymnastics National Championships to be held on the Gold Coast. She will also be travelling to New Zealand on Friday 6 June to compete internationally.

Having missed an entire year of training due to injury and subsequent surgery, Eva has worked incredibly hard to return to competition level fitness. Her results reflect her commitment to her sport and determination to overcome setbacks to achieve outstanding results. Â

LUCA SIRIANNI AND BAXTER PHILLIPS OF YEAR 8 SELECTED FOR SOUTHERN METRO JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Luca Sirianni (Year 8) and Baxter Phillips (Year 8) have both been selected to play for the Southern Metro Junior Football League in the U14 Boys AFL Vic Metro Interleague competition.

They won their first game against the Frankston & District JFL on Wednesday 28 May at RSEA Park and will take on the Yarra JFL and Eastern FNL over the King's Birthday weekend.

OLIN BUISMAN TRIATHLETE
Olin Buisman of Year 11 recently represented McKinnon at the National School Sport Australia Triathlon Championships in Rockingham, Western Australia. She received a Glen Eira Youth Excellence Award to support her travel. The award celebrates young people aged 10 to 25 who have demonstrated excellence in various fields, including sports. It acknowledges Olin's exceptional commitment and achievements in triathlon.

Olin manages school, study and daily training, involving three sports. This year she competed in Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia at National Triathlon events.

Olinâs individual events are: 500m swim, 15km cycle, and 4km run. She also competes in the group relay race.Â

In a very strong field, Olin completed all her events well, even managing to stay calm when she had a tyre puncture just ahead of the race.

The Glen Eira Youth Excellence Award recognises Olin as a young leader in our community who has shown remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship.Â
A wonderful achievement.
ADAM BESSARON WINS JUDO GOLDÂ
Adam Bessaron of Year 9 recently travelled to the Gold Coast to compete in the Judo National Championships. We are delighted to announce, Adam won the 2025 Cadets U50kgs category.

This makes Adam a two times national champion, having won gold medals in Sydney and Canberra International events earlier this year.
Â
Adam attends the Taketani Judo Academy where he has been awarded a blue belt by passing a rigorous practical and knowledge test. Presentation of a coloured belt requires a great deal of practice and dedication, and we congratulate Adam on his recent successes in his chosen sport.
