Year 12 Physics Motors Depth Study
Last term, students in the Year 12 Physics class were required to complete a Depth Study assessment task in which they designed and built their own functional motors. The quality of the submissions was very high, with reports of equal quality completed to accompany them. Pictured are a collection of the motors that these students built. Special mention to Jessica Weisback, who went above and beyond, succeeding in building a functional solar cell.
Are the burgers really better?
When the Year 12 Investigating Science class was asked to design an investigation to test an advertising claim, the unanimous decision was to determine whether the burgers really are better at Hungry Jacks. An investigation was planned with a double-blind trial to compare burgers from Hungry Jacks, McDonalds and Grill’d on factors including taste, presentation, and juiciness. After collating survey results, Grill’d unsurprisingly came out on top, with McDonalds taking second. It was pretty conclusive that the claim was not backed by the evidence!
