DISTRICT CROSS-COUNTRY:

On Tuesday 19th May, our P.O.P.S Cross Country team proudly represented our school at the Ringwood District Cross Country Carnival held at Quambee Reserve. This annual event brought together students from eight local schools, including Holy Spirit, Warranwood, Tintern Grammar, Ringwood North, Tintervale, Sacred Heart and Dorset.

Despite forecasts of wet weather, conditions turned out to be ideal for running, allowing students to perform at their very best. We had 60 students from Years 3–6 compete across six age groups: 12/13-year-old boys and girls, 11-year-old boys and girls, and 9/10-year-old boys and girls.

The course proved both challenging and exciting, beginning and finishing on the front oval at Quambee Reserve and featuring a steep uphill climb, loops around the sports ovals, a section past the pony club and a tough final run back up the hill to the finish line. The 12/13 and 11-year-old students completed an approximate 2.5km course, while the 9/10-year-olds ran approximately 1.8km.

We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of the following students who finished in the top 12 of their respective races. An outstanding result with each race featuring up to 80 competitors.

We are incredibly proud of your efforts, determination and the way you represented our school throughout the morning. A special thank you to Mrs Rachel Cornwell for volunteering on the course, as well as the many parents and grandparents who came along to support and cheer on our runners. Thank you also to everyone who assisted with transport and logistics. Finally, thank you to Miss Owen, Miss Grigg and Miss Smith (student teacher) for their valuable support throughout the day.
