Masterchef Junior Challenge
Olivia Cruse
Teacher - Food Studies
In a culinary extravaganza that captured the taste buds of our judges, this year's Junior MasterChef competition showcased the immense talent and creativity of our young cooks.
This year, each group chose to focus was on a dessert. The Mystery Box ingredients that inspired these desserts were passionfruit, mango, strawberries, Greek yoghurt and chocolate. Students produced items that ranged from delicate pastries to pavlovas, crepes and parfaits. The young chefs spared no effort in presenting desserts that were not only visually stunning but also bursting with flavours that left the judges in awe.
What truly made this competition special was the level of passion and determination displayed by the junior chefs. Many of them experimented with ingredients, combining unexpected flavours and textures to create desserts that were as surprising as they were delicious. Their fearlessness in the kitchen and willingness to take risks paid off, resulting in desserts that thoroughly impressed the judges.
The competitors and the Food Studies staff would like to thank our judges Tamara Ghazale, Mark Haebich, Antoinette Siciliano and Harry Lalor. Many thanks also to our resident photographer, Ngatia McQuilten.

Junior MasterChef was a great experience to help practice cooking under timed conditions, and keeping a clean environment while we were cooking. It was so fun to be cooking with different ingredients than we normally wouldn’t and get to be a bit more creative with our cooking.

Jr MasterChef was such a great experience and i would definitely do it again. My partner and I made honey and strawberry, custard tarts and we were very happy with how it went, coming second place. I learnt new skills around the kitchen, and it was set up really well and everyone enjoyed some friendly competition. I highly recommend!
