Business Fair

Year 10 Commerce

The Year 10 Commerce class had a very successful Business Fair this year,  raising a grand total of  $394.00 for charity.

Two of the stalls made over $100.00 each which was a wonderful effort! Dominic Poletti, Hudson Tuvaine and Joey Nappo raised the most money earning them the privilege  to choose the charity to which the profits would be donated. They chose the Heart Foundation.

The students worked hard to plan for the Day of Sale on October 10th and then create the most delicious cakes, slices and savoury goods to sell to the school community. Three of the five stalls sold out quickly leaving the stall holders feeling that they could have sold a lot more brownies, caramel slices and assorted small cakes! The sausage and hamburger stalls were still doing a brisk business as the bell sounded for Period 3! All the food made for the Fair was consumed on the day by the Brunswick Secondary College community.

The Business Fair is the practical component of the Year 10 Business Management course in the Commerce subject. It gives students the opportunity to test their entrepreneurial skills and then gain taste of what it would be like to run a small business. The students also gain an appreciation for what is actually involved in turning a good idea into ‘a going concern’ by documenting the planning, costing and advertising that they undertook to make their stall successful on the day.

Congratulations to all concerned!
