Student News | School‑Based Traineeship Awarded

We’re delighted to congratulate Isabel Mayne (Year 12) on securing a School‑Based Traineeship for 2026. 

 

Isabel has recently commenced her role as a Trainee Administration Officer with Registration and Licensing Services in the Department of State Growth, working two days a week over the next 12 months. 

 

We’re incredibly proud of her achievement and wish her every success in the year ahead!

Designed to inspire students in Years 10–12 to consider careers within the growing maritime, defence, marine, renewable energy and offshore sector. Students will participate in hands-on activities, immersive tours and meet with industry representatives from across Australia. Register now.

March + April, Business for Good, Burnie, Launceston and Hobart 

Business for Good is an interactive event that explores sustainable business practices, the circular economy and showcases inspiring local businesses leading the way. Suited for students in Years 9-12. Register now

 

26 April – 2 May: Natural Sciences camp - From critters to the cosmos, Southern Tasmania 

This six-night, seven-day camp is for Year 12 students. A predominantly field-based experience designed to inspire and challenge students. Activities include a study of geological formations, animal and plant observations, drone navigation, and a visit to an observatory, with integrated mathematical and chemistry applications.

27 April – 3 May: Maria Island marine biology experience. A practical learning experience on Maria Island for Year 11 and 12 students

This predominantly field-based unit consists of five days on picturesque Maria Island on the Tasmanian East Coast. The unit is open to 24 students and is designed to engage, challenge, excite and inspire you through a hands-on marine science program.

Work Experience | Forensic Science

Curious about working with the Australian Federal Police (AFP)? Love forensic science? Fascinated to learn more? 

 

The AFP Forensics Work Experience Program is a one-week immersive program for students in Years 10 to 12. It's held twice a year at the AFP Forensics Facility at Majura in the ACT.
