Welcome back to the second part of the season
After the New Year break and the moratorium, our rowers have well and truly returned to training, both on and off the water.
Club Regatta 6
Just after the moratorium concluded, our Senior Rowers headed to Lake Barrington for Club Regatta 6. This was another valuable opportunity for them to gain experience in race conditions. A big thank you to Declan for assisting with getting the girls on the water.
Club State Championships
Last weekend, our Senior Rowers were back at Lake Barrington to compete in the Club State Championships. With heats in the smaller boat classes for Championship races beginning on Friday afternoon, it shaped up to be a busy weekend for many of the rowers. All crews competing in Friday’s heats progressed through to the Championship Finals, which was a fantastic achievement.
All Schools Regatta
Entries are now being finalised for the upcoming All Schools Regatta, which will run from Friday afternoon, 27 February, for U16 and Open rowers, through to Sunday afternoon, March 1. All rowers are permitted to wear their School Rowing Hoodie next week in the lead‑up to the event. A reminder that boat loading and pasta night will take place next Thursday 26 February, at the sheds.
Try Rowing
With the start of the new school year, we welcome many new members to the SMC community. Once the regatta season concludes, I plan to hold a Try Rowing session for those who may be interested. Please keep an eye out for further details in the coming weeks.
