The Exec Address

Executive Principal Message

Dear MCHF community

One of the highlights this term was Foundation Day where we celebrate the formation of the Congregation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family, which were founded on 15 August 1895 under the guidance of Patriarch Elias Howayek and Sister Rosalie Nasr and Sr Stephanie Kardouche. On this day the Sisters renew their vows. This year was especially important as Sr Irene celebrated 50 years as a Religious Sister. We thank all those who have touched our lives and have supported us in our ministry to serve God’s people.

On the capital works front, our H block should be completed by mid-October and hopefully Kindy and Year 1 can move into their new building early term 4. At the back of the College, we have demolished the block of units and will transform the area into a temporary playground. We are in the process of finalising our Masterplan which will then be lodged for approval.

Our Y12 students have completed their trial exams and they will be graduating in September. Until then they should be heads down and focussed on their study.

I thank every person that has contributed to the life of the College and we look forward to many more events this term including Father’s Day, Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, and Y12 Graduation among other things.

Further details and information on the day will be communicated soon. Please monitor the updates through the Parent Portal.

Staff Spirituality Day

The start of Term 3 provided an opportunity for the College staff and the staff of St Marouns College to come together at St Marouns College for a spiritualty day with the theme of the day “My Journey of Faith.” The day commenced with a keynote session “Teach Us to Pray Lord” led by Fr Danny Nouh. The day then included reflection and group discussion, various workshops, lunch, collaboration, and concluding with Mass celebrated by Fr Ron Hassarati.

Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family Mural in E Block

As we celebrated the foundation day of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family, we were excited to work with Art by Danny Mulyono to design a mural for our E Block playground. Danny was tasked with designing an artwork that represents the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family. The result was spectacular! He was able to bring three elements of the sisters in his mural – Patriarch Elias Howayek, the Holy Family, and the Mother House in Ebreen, Lebanon. Our community, including the Sisters, were very excited to see the final design.

Chinese Short Stay Students

This term the College welcomed Chinese short stay students to experience Australian education. The guest students were buddied with our students and spent the week learning in classes and participating in the life of the College. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience as it provided an opportunity for them to experience a different culture. We look forward to continuing this partnership in welcoming Chinese short stay students next year.

Patrick Coorey Visit

On Tuesday 13th August, the College welcomed Patrick Coorey, who was visiting from England, to address our Year 9, 10 and 11 students about his journey of growth. Patrick is the Race Team Manager, for Jaguar Racing Formula Team.

Patrick’s career in professional motor racing spans 29 years, working mostly as a Race Engineer, in championships such as Formula E, Formula 1, GP2, Formula 3000 and touring cars.

We thank Mr George Khouri, our Board Chair, who assisted in bringing Patrick to the College.

2025 Student Leadership

We have commenced the process to elect our 2025 student leaders. Our Year 5 and 11 students attended a presentation about the roles and the upcoming process.

The students are now completing their applications and the speeches will then follow on Friday 6th September. We look forward to announcing our 2025 student leaders very soon.

Year 12 Graduation

Our Year 12 Graduation Mass and Ceremony will be held on Wednesday 18th September. Invitations to Year 12 parents have been sent and students will be permitted to collect their two tickets from the fees office once all fees have been finalized. Additional tickets can be purchased for $30 from the fees office. We will be staggering the release of additional tickets.

Father’s Day

I wish all our father figures a very happy Father’s Day. We also pray and remember all father’s who have left this earthly world and watch over us.

May God bless and protect you all!
