House Athletics Week- that's a wrap!!!!!

Wow what a wonderful start to the term in the areas of Phys Ed and Sport and a very proud time to be a part of HPE at the Heights!

Congratulations to everyone on the amazing efforts of our house athletics week!

The junior school athletics carnival was held on July 28 for the foundation, year 1 and 2 students. The students came to school dressed in their house colours and competed in their house teams in 8 athletics events on the oval including- modified shot put, discus, relay, hurdles, high jump, long jump, George's gumboot toss, sack jump sort and egg and spoon race.

Then after recess the students competed in the house sprints where all students scored points for their house and went home with a ribbon. We couldn't be more happy with our students enthusiasm, perseverance and collaboration. Thank you to all our staff and student leaders for supporting our students in a very successful carnival!

The senior school athletics carnival was held on July 29 at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium for our year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students. The house colours were flowing with students coming in their team colours to the track. We had some wet weather but we didn't let it dampen our spirits- a credit to our students for the flexibility and positive attitudes. The students all competed in 6 events for the day including- shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, 100m and student choice of 200m, 800m and hurdles. It was so nice seeing our students walking around with multiple ribbons of their individual successes on the day. We will now use the results from this carnival to select our interschool athletics squad which will compete at the BDSSA carnival on August 26.

Thank you to all the parents, carers and families who came to support our students in our house athletics week! What a great school community we have here at the Heights.

And finally...... drum roll please.......Well done to MACQUARIE for winning and becoming the House Athletics Champions this year!

YEAR 5 AND 6 HOOP TIME

On Friday July 31, Coach Taleski, Mrs Maxwell and Ms O'Neill coached 28 students in our annual Hoop Time Basketball Tournament. We took a Rockets and Jets boys and girls team to compete in the day. We had some very tough games with some great competitors against us. all teams played 6 games across the day and the students showed such great team work and collaboration. Well done to all our students on a successful day of basketball, we had some wins and some losses. We didn't make the finals but the students should be so proud of their perseverance and collaboration - they worked so hard and never gave up!

We had some amazing student leadership amongst our teams. Well done to all students involved!
